Sir Sydney Camm memorial at Alexandra Gardens 

"I don't think enough people know about Sir Sydney Camm or just how important he was." 

Designed by Windsor-born aviation pioneer Sir Sydney Camm, the Hawker Hurricane played a vital role during the Second World War. His memorial sits beside the River Thames in Alexandra Gardens and, if you visit at dusk, the illuminated Hurricane replica looks especially impressive against the evening sky. 

It's one of Windsor's quieter spots and a wonderful place to take in the riverside views. 

The Savill Garden 

"If you enjoy gardens, this is somewhere you could happily spend half a day." 

Nestled within Windsor Great Park, The Savill Garden is 35 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, woodland walks, and seasonal planting. Every visit feels different depending on the time of year, making it a peaceful retreat just a few minutes from the town centre. 

Runnymede 

"I love the history here. It's one of those places that shaped the world without most people realising it." 

Just outside Windsor, Runnymede is where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. While you're there, visit the elegant John F. Kennedy Memorial and the Magna Carta Memorial, both set within beautiful countryside that's perfect for a gentle walk. 

Eton's museums 

"If the weather isn't playing ball, these are brilliant." 

Cross Windsor Bridge into Eton and you'll find three fascinating museums exploring natural history, archaeology, and the history of Eton College. They're packed with interesting collections and make a great alternative to a rainy afternoon. 

Windsor's historic well 

"I always recommend this because people walk straight past it without noticing." 

Tucked away on the corner of St Albans Street and the High Street is Windsor's historic town well, alongside a traditional red telephone box and the Irish Guards memorial. 

It's a small detail, but sometimes those are the places that make you slow down and really take in the character of a town.

"If you're looking for a souvenir you'll actually treasure, this is the place." 

Forget the usual gift shops. The Eton Antiquarian Bookshop is full of rare books, antique maps, vintage prints, and beautiful illustrations. Whether you're a collector or simply enjoy browsing, it's well worth crossing the bridge for.
